With the progress of the times, the audio and video industry is gradually developing, especially in the field of video walls. With the development of the big data industry, more and more control rooms are established, and people hope to observe real-time dynamic data through video walls.
When users buy video wall controllers, they usually only tell the dealer how many output interfaces or input interfaces they have, including the type of interface, and the dealer will provide you with a variety of solutions according to your needs. So which solution is best for you? Which solution is the most cost-effective?
Video wall controller type
There are currently three mainstream video wall controllers.
-AV OVER IP (IP BASE)
-Centralized Controller(FPGA BASE)
-Video Matrix
AV OVER IP devices are divided into input nodes and output nodes, which are respectively connected to the input source and display terminal. All node devices only need to communicate under the same network environment, not only LAN, all nodes can also be connected through public IP, which means that there is no distance limit for AV OVER IP. So if your control rooms are distributed in different cities, and the display data between them needs to be shared, then AV OVER IP equipment will be your first choice, but the price is relatively expensive.
Centralized Controller, you can imagine it is to install all the input and output nodes of AV OVER IP into an industrial chassis. Different from the distributed design, the number of channels in a chassis is limited. If your project is likely to be expanded later, it is still recommended that you choose a chassis with a larger capacity in advance. And because of the limitation of input and output distance in centralized type, usually the distance between input and output from the controller cannot exceed 100M. Its price is relatively moderate.
Video Matrix is also a centralized chassis design, so the above-mentioned limitation of distance and channel number also exists. And the biggest difference between the video matrix and the controller is that the video matrix cannot open windows, roaming, zooming, stretch, etc. The responsibility of the video matrix is more like establishing a mapping relationship between the signal source and the video wall. For example, if there is a 2x2 video wall, then I can map the signal to any LCD, but I cannot move the signal source window freely through the visualization software, and I cannot reduce the signal source window, that is, the video matrix It is not possible to display multiple signal sources on a single monitor. But if you think the simple mapping function can meet your needs, then I think the video matrix is your first choice because it is the cheapest.
It is especially important to analyze your needs reasonably and then decide the type of controller.
